Hershel says:
"I'll be right here waiting," Hershel said as he tried to chuckle but found it hurt too much so he stopped. "Don't worry son, you've got this," he told Shaun. Then he let out a few coughs and once he was done coughing, he went on speaking. "Remember when I used to take you to the hospital with me when you were little?" Hershel asked as starts to remember the good old days.

"I would let you help me with things like this and it made you feel so proud and excited," he added with a smile on his face. Hershel tried to look around and see where Shaun went too, but he decided to stop when he started feeling twiges in his neck, but he went on speaking to Shaun, knowing that he could everything he was saying. "Don't forget an old bedsheet to make a sling out of," he reminded Shaun.

Hershel says:
Hershel could tell that Shaun was having a hard time seeing him like this. But there was nothing he could do at the moment, except for lay there and wait for help to either come or for Shaun to buckle down and helped Hershel himself. When he heard Shaun calling him from the front porch, he began to answer him back. "I'm still here son," Hershel yelled back. "Just had a few frogs in the old throat," he added. Then, Hershel heard Shaun say that there wasn't an ambulance coming.

Hershel got quiet for a little while with his eyes closed. When Shaun started to panic again, he opened them and took Shaun's hand. "It's alright son, I'm still here," he told him. Then Hershel let out a sigh. "It's alright, we will get through this with or without an ambulance," he said giving Shaun's hand a gentle squeeze. Then he went on talking to his son. "You remember everything I told you we would need to fix me up?" he asked Shaun. "I think you best start getting those things and bringing them here," he said.

Hershel says:
"That's a good boy and don't worry, I won't be going anywhere, " Hershel said with a chuckle. Then he begant to cough a little, as he was resting on the floor.  "Don't worry, you're old man isn't going anywhere for a very long time," he told Shaun as he gave Shaun's arm a little squeez. "But you can be sure I won't live this done for a while," he said chuckling. Hershel could feel how scared his son was and gave him a smile as he watched Shaun stand up.

"Don't you go worrying about how I talk," Hershel said with a chuckle and then turned his head so that he could see Shaun going and checking for the ambulance, which has yet to even show up. Outside there was no noise or sounds of anything coming, let alone an ambulance. While Shaun was outside looking for something that in the back of Hershel's mind, wasn't coming, Hershel continued to breathe normally, though he knew he probably had at least some bruised ribs, which made breathing hurt.

Hershel then closed his eyes for a few minutes just to rest them, though he knew that if Shaun came in and saw him with his eye's closed, he might go into maximum panic, which wouldn't help anybody, so after about 5 or so minutes, Hershel opened his eyes and let out a sigh as he continued to wait for his son to return.

Hershel says:
"I'm not going anywhere son," Hershel as he took his good hand and reached up touched Shaun's hands gently. He could see that Shaun was really scared and worried about him and he knew he had to do soemthing to calm his son down. "Listen son, I know my arm  is broke," he told him. "And the blood I'm coughing up is most likely because I have a punctured lung steming from a broken rib," he said trying to smile but it hurt to smile. In fact, it hurt to do anything, but he knew he had to be strong for his son.

"Listen, I want to you to go check and see if you can spot the ambulnace or at the very least, heart it coming," he said. "If you if you don't see or hear the ambulance, I want you to come back here with the wooden spoon and the bottle of whiskey that's in the cabinet," he said. "You are gonna have to turn my arm the right way so that we can at least put it in a sling," he told Shaun. He knew that Shaun wouldn't want to do it but he knew he had too.

Hershel, still holding onto Shaun's hand and looking up at his son, continued to speak. "I know you don't wanna do this, but I need you to, okay? So just take a couple of deep breathes and be quick on checking for the ambulance," he told his son after removing his hand from Shauns.

Hershel says:
Hershel could see that Shaun was scared and getting himself all worked up. Hershel took his other hand and gently reached over and took Shaun's hand. Hershel let out a soft smile as he began to speak in a pain-filled voice. "Calm down now Shaunie," he said softly and trying to compose himself without moving but realizing he couldn't do one without the other.

"I'll be alright. It takes a lot more than just a little old broken arm and a few bumps and bruises to keep your old man down," he said chuckling and then moaning out in pain as if he had a few broken ribs as well. He sat up a little bit and began to cough, blood as he did so. Finally, he was able to speak again. "Once he was done coughing, Hershal laid his head back down on the floor as he continued his conversation to speak to Shaun.

So, just take a couple of deep breathes and calm down," he told him as ne noticed the grip Shaun had on his cell phone. He couldn't help but chuckle, even though it was causing him so much pain. "If I were you, I would think about releasing that death grip you have on your phone," he told Shaun. "I don't think it's gonna talk," he added trying to make a joke.
