Charlene couldn't help but smile back with the warmest and friendliest smile she had. She could tell that he was maybe a bit shy, but she didn't mind that. She also could tell that he was cute, even though she tried to make it look like she wasn't checking him out. Finally, after shaking off the cold rain and getting herself to where she didn't feel so cold, though she couldn't help but feel the cold down to her bones, she began to speak to him. "Hi and it's okay," she told him. "I didn't mind the wait," she said with a giggle. "It gave me a chance to warm up a bit," she added as she pushed down her hood that was on her raincoat so that Norman could see her face better. "Anyway, my name is Charlene, but you can call me Charlie, everybody does," she said softly but still friendly. Then she turned and looked at the rain coming down and then turned back to Norma. "Anyway, yea the storm is bad tonight. It was getting to where I could barely see outside," she told Norman. "It's lucky I got here in one piece," she said with a chuckle and then got serious.

"But anyway," she said as she went on with her thoughts. "Yes, I would love a room. And I will be staying for a few days though it really is going to depend on the weather," she told him as she dug in her purse and pulled out her wallet. She then got into her wallet and pulled out her debit card and laid it down in front of the both of them. "I hope you take debit cards," she told him. "I forgot to go to the bank and get some cash, so this and a couple of credit cards are all I have in the way of paying for things," she added. As she waited for him to get her checked in and take her payment, she couldn't help but look around. She was actually in love with the way the hotel was set up, and it brought a huge smile to her face as she turned back to look at Norman. "So, do you run this whole hotel by yourself?" she asked him. "Or does your wife help you?" she asked not sure if he was even married or not. She didn't see a wedding band, but she also knew that most men now days didn't even bother to wear a wedding band.

Ever since Charlie found out she could start fires with her mind, people have been afraid of her. So, growing up was very difficult and now that she was an adult, she felt more alone than ever. And though the only ones that knew about her "special gift" were long dead, she still felt as if the whole world knew who she was and what she could do. That's why she was always running frrom town to town, trying to find some place she could feel safe to be herrself without judgement.

On her way to yet anothe town that probably wouldn't be her foreverr home, she grerw vey tired of driving, plus it was stormy out, which only made her that more tired. That's when she came upon the Bates Motel. She saw the sign that said Vacency lite up so she pulled into the parking lot. Then she got out and went into the office as quick as she could. Once at the desk, she began to ring the bell in hopse someone would hear.
